General Questions
What services do Air Con Services (UK) Ltd provide?
We design, install, service and repair air conditioning systems, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) and commercial gas systems. Our team supports everything from single split units to large VRV/VRF systems, AHUs and full building ventilation for commercial, industrial and specialist environments.
Which areas do you cover?
We're based in Duncote, near Towcester, and typically cover Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and the surrounding areas. For larger commercial or multi-site projects we can work further afield โ just get in touch to discuss your site.
Do you work with domestic customers as well as commercial?
Yes. Our core focus is commercial and industrial projects, but we also support homeowners who want reliable, professionally installed air conditioning or ventilation solutions.
Are your engineers qualified and insured?
Yes. Our engineers are fully qualified, F-Gas certified and experienced in commercial environments. We hold the appropriate insurances, and our gas engineers are Gas Safe registered for commercial gas work, so you can be confident your systems are safe and compliant.
What types of systems can you work on?
We work on most major brands and system types, including wall and ceiling cassettes, ducted systems, VRV/VRF, multi-split and single-split systems, server room cooling, AHUs, MVHR and commercial gas appliances/plant.
Installation & Projects
How does the installation process work?
First, we carry out a site survey to understand your building, heat loads and any constraints. We then design a solution, provide a detailed quotation, and once approved we schedule the works. Our engineers complete the install, commission the system and hand it over with training for your team and all relevant documentation.
Do you offer free site surveys?
For most commercial and local projects we offer a free, no-obligation survey to assess your requirements and provide a tailored quotation. Larger or complex multi-site surveys can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
How long does an installation take?
Smaller single-room systems are often completed in a day. Multi-room or commercial projects may take several days or longer, depending on access, working hours and complexity. We'll give you a realistic timeframe as part of your quotation and plan works to minimise disruption to your business.
Can you replace or upgrade existing systems?
Yes. We regularly replace ageing or inefficient systems with modern, energy-efficient equipment. We can also review your existing plant and advise on whether repair, upgrade or full replacement offers the best value over the life of the system.
Do you remove and dispose of old equipment?
We can decommission old systems, safely recover refrigerant in line with F-Gas regulations, and remove redundant equipment from site. All refrigerant and waste is handled and disposed of via licensed routes.
Servicing, Maintenance & Breakdowns
How often should my air conditioning be serviced?
As a minimum, we recommend annual servicing for light-use systems and twice-yearly maintenance for critical or heavily used systems (such as offices, gyms, server rooms and healthcare). Regular servicing keeps performance high, reduces breakdowns and helps maintain manufacturer warranties.
Do you offer maintenance contracts / PPM?
Yes. We provide planned preventative maintenance (PPM) contracts tailored to your sites and equipment. This can include scheduled visits, filter changes, checks on refrigerant circuits, controls, electrical safety and overall performance with clear reports after each visit.
Do you provide emergency breakdown support?
We offer breakdown and reactive callouts for existing and maintenance customers. Response times depend on location and contract level, but we always aim to get critical systems back up and running as quickly as possible.
Will regular maintenance help with energy costs?
Absolutely. Clean filters, correctly charged systems and properly set controls can significantly reduce energy consumption. Preventative maintenance also helps identify issues early, before they become expensive repairs or cause downtime.
Compliance & Regulations
Can you help us stay compliant with F-Gas regulations?
Yes. We can advise on your responsibilities under F-Gas, carry out leak checks where required, and help maintain accurate records for systems above the relevant thresholds. We'll also highlight any compliance risks we see during maintenance visits.
Do you support TM44 air conditioning inspections?
We can help you understand whether your building requires a TM44 inspection and, where needed, can either undertake the inspection (if appropriate) or put you in touch with an accredited energy assessor. We'll work with you to ensure your systems are ready and well-maintained ahead of any assessment.
Can you work in sensitive environments (medical, nurseries, labs, etc.)?
Yes. We have experience working in environments such as offices, gyms, nurseries, medical practices and other specialist sites, and we plan works around your operational and hygiene requirements to minimise disruption and maintain safety.
System Performance & Operation
Can air conditioning provide heating as well as cooling?
Yes. Most modern systems we install are heat pumps, meaning they can both heat and cool. In many cases, they're more efficient than traditional electric heating, offering comfortable temperatures and lower running costs when correctly designed and controlled.
How energy efficient are modern systems?
Modern systems are designed with high efficiency ratings and inverter technology, which varies the compressor speed to match the demand. When paired with good controls and regular maintenance, they can reduce energy use and running costs compared to older equipment.
Are air conditioning systems noisy?
Modern equipment is much quieter than older units. Indoor units are typically quiet enough for offices and meeting rooms, and outdoor units are selected and positioned to minimise noise impact on neighbours and staff.
Quotes, Pricing & Booking
How do you price your work?
Every project is priced on a case-by-case basis, taking into account system design, equipment selection, installation complexity, access, working hours and any additional requirements such as crane lifts or builders' works. Your quotation will clearly break down what's included so there are no surprises.
Can you work to a budget?
Yes. If you have a budget in mind, tell us at the survey stage. We can often propose options at different price points (for example, phased works, different brands or system types) so you can choose the best fit for your building and finances.
How do I request a quote or book a visit?
You can contact us via the enquiry form on our website, email us at service@ac-services.co.uk or call 01908 419 244 to discuss your requirements and arrange a survey or visit.
